My Favorite Pink Recipe and Lifes a Breeze Peonies - Flower Paintings by Nancy Medina Art

Life's a Breeze Peonies is the newest painting in Flower Mound Studio. Since the day was chilly and slightly wet out, the pugs stayed in the studio with me all day, hunkered down as if they lived in the Alaskan tundra. I love these cozy days in the studio, with all my office helpers snoring and tossing toys around while I work. The new vase was under the spotlight again, and I had to paint the peonies because they may not last another day. My friend Jill, the manager at the flower market always lets me know when they have a new shipment of peonies in, offering to grab them off the flat for me before all these fragrant beauties disappear. It's good to have flower friends!

My favorite pink recipe in the whole world is permanent rose by Winsor & Newton, with just a touch of white added. By starting your painting with a transparent pink, such as permanent rose, and then adding the final touches in the white/pink mixture, you can get clean color that doesn't look muddy.

The fragrant studio models take a bow and a dip!
