She Wore a White Dress With Roses

I'm absolutely thrilled and delighted to be featured for the Elegance show for Contemporary Fine Arts International this month! Here's the story behind the image shared - She Wore a White Dress With Roses.
One of my father's favorite stories was about the night he and my mother (who were just courting at the time) went to a dance hall in St. Louis to hear a live band play and dance the night away. My mother worked as a secretary for a law firm and still lived at home with my grandmother and grandfather. Every pay day she would go out and buy herself a new outfit.
On this night, she wore a white dress with red roses embroidered all the way down the skirt. Dad said every man in the room stared at his gorgeous red head in a white dress with roses when she walked into the dance hall. I wish I had a photo of my mother in that dress. Since I don't, I've created it here. I can imagine the live band playing, the laughter that must have hung in the air, and the perfume. Frank Sinatra, Eddie Fisher, Peggy Lee, I know my parents loved that music, their record collection was cherished for years through our childhood.
I know for certain if time travel were an option, the 1950s would be the years I would visit first. Most of all, I'd like to talk with that young red-haired girl in the white dress with roses. I wonder what she would say. I think I'll ask her when I see her tomorrow.

Clearly, I'm going to have to buy some shoes
to wear with all of these new dresses!
