Purple Star Irises and How to Make Your Paint Last - Flower Paintings by Nancy Medina

Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

My new hydrangea video!

Purple Stars Irises is the newest daily painting in Flower Mound Studio, painted at midnight because there was some leftover purple on my palette after all those sunflowers, and it would have been a shame to let it go to waste. Truth is, I use my oil paint over and over again, by covering my paper palette with Saran Wrap and then sliding the whole pad into my freezer drawer. With just a few exceptions, most of my colors last for weeks in the freezer and can be used over and over again. A friend mentioned you can spray your palette with Pam cooking spray before putting the Saran Wrap on top, but I haven't tried that yet. Maybe one of you can try it and let me know how that works out! (You probably don't want to get the butter spray version, though...)
