Coronado Island Cottage Rose Arbor Painting by Nancy Medina

Coronado Island Cottage Rose Arbor
by Nancy Medina
Oil on Archival Panel

We painted cottages in class today in North Texas, using my plethora of images from Coronado Island in Southern California as our reference material. Besides the amazing bougainvillea, my favorite flowers on this island that has an all year round growing season are the roses, foxglove, and delphinium. I love walking downtown and seeing the locals on their colorful bicycles eating on patios with their pups nearby. What on earth would it be like to be lucky enough to be an island dweller! Ah well, one can dream...

It is these storybook cottages that grab my attention, even more than the gorgeous flowers! I so wish I could see inside them! A beautiful painting, Nancy!
