Seasonal Peonies in Pink by Floral Artist Nancy Medina

Seasonal Peonies in Pink
by Nancy Medina
Oil on Archival Panel

Seasonal Peonies in Pink is the newest daily painting in Flower Mound Studio, painted at my Mother's farm in East Texas. Studio Director AnnieBee always accompanies me on these trips, providing invaluable assistance by attacking her reflection in the sliding glass door, eating birdseed from beneath the feeders, and poking my mother's leg at dinner time. Today she supervised as I filled the woodpecker feeders with homemade suet, and she was rewarded with a few peanuts since nothing fell on the ground (always a disappointment when delicious peanut butter suet does not fall on the ground...). Currently she snores noisily on her furry pillow by my feet, as I clean up the paints and brushes. I'm not quite sure how to pinpoint why she makes my life better, but she surely does. Maybe it's the way she makes me laugh, asking absolutely nothing of me in return. Except a little bite of peanut butter suet...just one little bite please?

I'm so glad for these special days with your mom. The peonies are gorgeous and I remember a friend of my mom saying peonies were her favorite flower. Well, that and lilacs!
