Daisy Daisy by Nancy Medina
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Daisy Daisy is one of a few new paintings drying in Flower Mound Studio this evening. I've been on a painting binge since returning from my Mom's this afternoon. She and I were up late again last night, discussing the best brand of microwave popcorn and watching all her fav murder shows on TV (Wives With Knives, etc). With some trepidation, I confess I am beginning to get addicted to these awful reality pseudo documentaries, and spend countless moments wondering if the photos of the killers or victims are real or "doctored." And as Mom sagely noted, they are MUCH less gory and disturbing than that awful new fictional series on TV based on unmitigated cruelty and gratuitous violence starring Kevin I Can't Believe You Took This Role Bacon. Yes my Mother may be in hospice, but she still rocks the casbah with bulls-eye descriptives.
On a brighter note, Cuties and Hydrangeas has been the cause of quite a bit of confetti in the studio this week. Thank you so very much to everyone who voted for the painting, it received first place for People's Choice for the BoldBrush Painting Competition for January, one day after I learned it had received first place in the Contemporary Fine Art International Elegance Juried Show. What a huge honor, especially considering the incredibly talented competition!
