The Gathering - Poppy Painting Triptych by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

The Gathering - Pink and Crimson Poppies
by Nancy Medina
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

The Gathering - Pink and Crimson Poppies, is a new triptych, and the first one I've done in quite a while. Since the piles o' red paint were in abundance, I could not deny my need to keep right on painting in this cheerful, warm color, on these cold winter nights! I'll be featuring this new work, along with some action pug photos in the snow in my newsletter next week.

My mom is home from the hospital after a six-day stay, it's so good to have her back home where she belongs. I'm not sure why sitting in hospitals is such exhausting work, this was a tough visit for her, and she says it was her last visit, so we are preparing ourselves for next steps. Getting paperwork in order and setting our hearts right for what is to come. There is no preparation for losing the person you have loved most your whole life, I know this from having lost my father a few days after my 30th birthday. But I am so thankful to have had an extraordinary, loving, laughing, caring mom in my life for 50 years. How incredibly blessed I have been.

I'm saddened hearing this about your mom but I am sure she knows best how she feels. The poppy garden is gorgeous, Nancy.

Dearest Nancy, how emotional this time will be for you. My mother made a similar decision but it ended up being a gift because we all knew that every day was precious after that and our memories are now full of extra special moments. Sending Blessings.
PS. I painted and sketched my mother as we spent the time together during that time and she loved it and it helped me record my love for her.
