Painted Poppy by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Painted Poppy by Nancy Medina
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Painted Poppy is the newest small work in Flower Mound Studio, as we end a day of celebrating. Today is my wedding anniversary, 12 years with Carlos. It is also our little cheesy pug Java's 12th birthday! *confetti* We celebrated with extra bites of cheese at snack time for everyone, and a new special nest bed for Java. Now he can climb into his own little downy soft tent and have a quiet place to nap while the rest of his little herd runs hither and yon being noisey.

Java was the first pug in our lives, the little guy who taught us how much one little four legged creature can fill your days with laughter. When we brought Java home, he was much too young to have been taken from his mother. We were too naive to understand what a bad breeder he had come from. He was only six weeks old on his first night with us. The breeder had vaccinated him that day. Around midnight, he started having problems breathing, and little bubbles were coming out of his tiny nose. My husband Carlos held him in his arms and rocked him all night long, while I prayed he would have the strength to keep breathing. We were incredibly blessed. He grew up to be a strong, healthy, loving little pug. I'm not sure what my life would be like without him, and I never want to imagine. Happy birthday cheesy guy!
