Lemonade, White Roses and Hydrangeas by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Lemonade, White Roses and Hydrangeas
by Nancy Medina
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

How do you fit one person, four fat pugs, and a big ole canvas in one little ole studio? Determination! Spit and vinegar! Mule-headed-ness! I was in the mood to paint something big and busy, so I piled up some of my favorite flowers and my new red ceramic cup on my awesome rubber maid rolly cart and went to town with the paint.

I've been on a quest for a red vase lately and this red cup has been trying to fill the role. Some of my friends may remember my last obsessive compulsive search for a blue glass vase. That search ended successfully due to a kind gal who found the vase she knew I wanted on Ebay and directed me patiently as to how to bid on it and purchase it. I am convinced she just wanted me to hurry up and move on and get over the whole blue vase infatuation thing. Apparently I'm really quite good at replacing one studio trinket infatuation with another easy as pie. As soon as I find the perfect red vase I'll be looking for a green pitcher. Or a yellow tea cup. Or a magenta tablecloth. Just thinking about it makes me crave Dove chocolate (because donuts stores do not stay open this late).

A big ole canvas in a little old studio.... !

Oh I do love that you have this on a table beneath a window! Makes me want to see the rest of the house too. I love when people have fresh flowers out on their tables. It is not something I seem to ever have and the few occasions when I have tried, something just does not look right. A gorgeous painting, Nancy!
