Summer Sun Poppies by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Summer Sun Poppies by Nancy Medina
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

The summer sun was intense today in North Texas, and poppies were blooming all over the place in Flower Mound Studio. Tonight a thunderstorm has rolled in, and this weather reminds me of summers on the farm when the lightning would shake our little house in the woods and the rain came down so hard my sisters and I had to yell to hear each other talk. The pugs slept right through the storm this afternoon, although our new adopted girl, Hannah, needed to be held and comforted. Storms are not her thing. No worries, though, she was safe and sound in her mama's arms!

Ahhh, poor Hannah. I love storms myself. One of my favorite poppy paintings ever, Nancy. I love the little purple wildflowers that grow in the midst of these brilliant beauties. Excellent work on all the grasses and stems too.

Lovely painting Nancy. I really like the way you positioned your poppies. They appear to be dancing. And why not? You've placed them in such lovely light, why wouldn't they be?

We have been in rain and storms too. I'm so tired of wet! The sun at this very moment is finally showing it's face. Have a good day.
