Hill Country Sunflowers and Roses and a New Container Garden by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Hill Country Sunflowers and Roses
by Nancy Medina

Fredericksburg, Texas, class demo
Oil on Linen Board

Hill Country Sunflowers and Roses was my demo painting for my students during my Texas Hill Country workshop this past weekend. The Fredericksburg, Texas grocery store always has a top notch selection of flowers, so we painted quite a variety of blossoms from the studio school on the resort overlooking log cabins and trees for miles around. It was like a slice of heaven right outside the door!

My next workshop is on July 21 in Dallas and is already full with a waiting list, so it looks like I'll have to make the sacrifice and go shopping at Central Market *sound of harps* for scads of gorgeous blossoms again this week!

Here are some peeks at my Hill Country students Donna and Deanna hard at work, and a preview of my newest container garden which is almost finished. I thought it only fitting you should see the little four footed furry obstacles who like to plant themselves squarely in front of my easel. It wouldn't be art if it wasn't challenging to reach the canvas, right?

Donna and her bright daisies!

Deanna's gorgeous blue vase!

A new four foot garden is crowding me out of the studio...
At this rate I will be needing the weed wacker!

Howie and Hannah agree right here is the best seat in the house...

I love seeing the Puglets ('specially that handsome Howie) always. A smile to brighten my morning and a wonderful way to start my day.

It is a gorgeous and oh so elegant piece you've posted first, Nancy. I just so love that vase! I also like seeing your students' work. Brilliant, all of them!
