Heart's Wish Stargazer Lilies by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Heart's Wish is a tribute to the fading lilies in my studio tonight. The past few days I've spent with my mother, who was in great spirits and full of her regular pip and vinegar and wit and laughter. I mentioned to her that it is the 100th birthday of the Poetry Anthology, and how I wished we could find her spiral notebooks filled with her poetry. She told me there were poems all over the house. I said, really, where mom? She said, "They're everywhere!" Then she began reciting poems she had written decades ago, sharing one with my 20 year old niece Robin and I that she had written when Robin was a baby.

I still have not been able to find her spiral notebook filled with poems, but I realized my mother was absolutely right. Her home is filled with poetry, and beauty, and memories that are going to last longer than time, because she is there.

Stargazers in the studio....

I am so glad you got to spend some time with your mom... and I bet it was fun to hear her recite her poetry! What a treasure it would be to find the spiral notebook.
We love your Statgazer Lilies!

Lovely stargazers, Nancy. I love that name for the flower as it implies dreams to me.

I think I must be one of the few people on the planet who just does not care for poetry. I don't dislike it all but I never, ever read poetry. Hated it in school when we had to do it too. I don't know why...maybe too much having to analyze the poet's intentions.

The sweet time spent with your mother is the most precious time you will ever spend! You are right....poetry is all around you when you are with your mom! Oh, to see mine again. And I will, one of these times!
