Daisy Sunflower Medley and Painting at the Dallas Arboretum by Texas Artist Nancy Medina

Daisy Sunflower Medley by Nancy Medina

Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Daisy Sunflower Medley is a new small work I finished in the midst of packing up for my class at the Dallas Arboretum tomorrow. I love teaching at the Dallas Arboretum (I know you've heard me say that a few times already...) - the staff is wonderful, so helpful, the classroom space is bright and airy and roomy and is filled with positive energy. I stopped by Central Market *sound of harps* this morning to shop flowers for my class. I might have been the first customer in the door, not that I was eager or anything, and was rewarded with two big bouquets of purple California asters! These flowers remind me so much of thistles, one of my favorite things in the whole world to paint. My watercolor thistle paintings paid the rent more than once when I was a young single gal living in Santa Barbara. These aren't exactly the same as thistles, but my fingers are already itching to dip into the purple paint and make them bloom. Tomorrow my class and I will tour the Chihuly glass exhibit on the grounds - stay tuned for pictures!

The studio models take a bow!

Irises and asters - sigh inducing!

Tweedles -- that's me said...

The Daisy Sunflower Medley painting is so beautiful, and so is the boquet of flowers.
We love thistles too!
Do you still do watercolors?
love tweedles

I wish you the best with your class Nancy. Love this painting and I'm drooling over the purples you are showing below. My favorite color.

I just finished up some lilies in pink but I'm onto purple subject matter next. I cannot seem to stay away from my favorite color. : ) Have a wonderful class.
