Star Bright is the newest sunflower blooming in Flower Mound Studio today, as work begins on a four foot square bright light blue hydrangea commission. Today was a bit of a first, shipping a 60X48 container garden flower painting to Art and Frame by Wood Gallery in Coronado, CA, for my solo show in 2 weeks. First I learned how best to package up one of these big paintings! Second I learned that I could actually fit that big painting inside the Ford Explorer, though it would not fit in the new Highlander. Third I learned that UPS cannot deliver something that large, and had to contract out the work to a freight shipper. Then I learned a painting this large is not cheap to ship, but that last lesson I suspected all along would be the case. A freight shipper will have to build a wooden palette and ship the painting upright after packaging, so nothing is stacked on top of the painting. The good news, I am told, is the painting will arrive by Monday. It just seemed fitting to celebrate by painting something tiny, a little star of a sunflower to light the way. Here's a peek at the studio models, still looking fresh!

Perfect title for this piece with the bright "star" against the night sky colored background. That large piece is large indeed! Your work is always so beautiful, Nancy. I think this is my 4th or 5th year following you as I mark them by your Coronado visits. I love when you share photos and paintings of that gorgeous little island.
