Lullaby Love Sunflowers is a new small work on the easel today in Flower Mound Studio. The hubby, foster puggy Hannah, Howie and Java are all tucked into bed already, while Studio Director AnnieBee and I are the last ones up. We have our evening routine down pat, as soon as the rest of the family retires, I pull out a box of treats from the cupboard and Annie gets her very own chew bone. She reminds me if I forget. After she's done with her bone, she dozes off until it's time for me to wash the brushes. Then she rushes to the kitchen, where brushwashing occurs, and where the next evening ritual takes place. She gets a tiny taste of 7 grain bread from La Madeline. Okay maybe two tiny tastes.

These evening treats remind me of when my three sisters and I were little. We all shared a big bedroom together, (Dad gave us a choice of our own rooms, or one big one, and we instantly voted for one big room thinking "party!" but I digress...). Sometimes on summer nights our parents would start popping popcorn after we went to bed, and the smell would waft into our room, which was right next to the kitchen. They always let us get up, no matter how late it was, and have some. Warm popcorn never tasted better than it did way back then.

The studio models are shedding just a bit...

Seriously? You would rather paint than play with me?

So lovely and the title is perfect for your warm story of late nights with Annie. I love that the other three retire with daddy. I love the soft yellows you use, Nancy.
