Purple Poppy Garden is a new work in the studio, as I prep a canvas for a new iris garden commission. I'll share that new painting with you soon, hopefully very soon, since I spent most of the day yesterday getting my studio organized again after the art show at the Dallas Arboretum. We had a bit of rain and chill here in Dallas, exactly one day after the Artscape show ended. The stars aligned to give us sunny weather, and delay the drenching by exactly enough hours to ensure we had a successful show!

One thing that did happen this year at Artscape that made me sad was to hear several of the photographers did not have good sales. One said he and his family barely made enough to cover their hotel expense, and they would not be back next year. I wonder if the age of the digital camera, and quick print web sites and shops is harming business for professional photographers. I do know several here in Dallas whose work is so unique and artistic it would be hard for an amateur such as myself to ever reproduce their quality, though. Have you heard of photographers who are closing shop in your area? I'm curious what the future holds for these talented colleagues. How quickly things can change!

Oh! These purple poppies are so beautiful! I have to think that the advancement of technology has caused so many to lose jobs, and sometimes not for the betterment of people as a whole. I think many great artists, craftsmen, tradesmen have lost jobs are instant gratification has increased. I don't know, Nancy. It is so hard to think of people losing heart and hope.
