Petal Pantomime Daisies and Hydrangeas is a new large work in the studio, drying along with a few other new paintings while I make another visit to the kitchen. I've made several kitchen excursions this evening, all due to the delivery of a box on our doorstep by fed ex tonight. At first I thought it was the paint I ordered, but when I lifted the box it felt so light!

When I opened the box a waft of some heavenly sweetness filled my studio - inside was a moist, cold rum cake - a gift from my friends at Art and Frames by Wood Gallery in Coronado, CA. The gallery owner, Jill, had left me a message a few nights ago that a special birthday gift was on its way that I would not want to share. Jill was right! Trisha and Glen and Jill are the three folks who make the art magic happen at the gallery on the island near San Diego, and always make my show during the Flower Festival such a success. What a cool surprise to get one of Trisha's famous homemade cakes! Here's a photo below, I wish you could smell this. I had to add a little whippy creme, of course. Thanks to my friends in sunny Southern California for this awesome treat! Gotta run now. I think I hear a cake calling my name...

Homemade rum cake from Trisha - Best ever!

Even your whip cream looks crafted by an artist, Nancy! That cake looks so good!! Love the hydrangeas, each grouping a little bouquet. I finally attempted my first hydrangeas just this past weekend. You capture the blues and violets of them beautifully!
