Otherworld is based on the koi ponds of the Dallas Arboretum, where the fish are guarded like gold by the staff and protected from hungry marauders by land or air. I really felt like breaking away from the norm with this painting, and wanted to do something much looser and more free - a nod back to the old watercolor days, in more ways than one. Otherworld, as pictured here, is a vertical detail of the original painting, which you can see in its entirety on my Web site.

Nancy, this is so ethereal. i love it, so dreamy. And the colors are wonderful. I took a look at the whole painting, wow it's a big one!
i also love those purple irises you painted yesterday! They are my favorite flower. Then poppies and sunflowers. And you paint them all so well! Just love your work!!
So dreamy and indeed, "otherworldly." Absolutely stunning piece, Nancy! Wow!
Nancy, this is just beautiful! It's one of those paintings that you could sit and look at for hours - so soft and dream-like. Love it!
Wow! I agree about being able to stare at it for hours! Really lovely piece.
Thank you - this one is actually a study for a much larger version that will be coming soon. I appreciate the kind remarks!
This would be great as a meditation piece - beautiful painting for the spirit.
