Lacey Breezes White Irises is the newest painting in the studio, on a day when the weather was so exceptionally beautiful it was a real joy to sit on my old bench in the back yard and let the sun shine down while I watched the pugs play. They are predicting this nice weather will be with us for a few weeks, so I'm planning to take every moment outdoors I can.

I received some good news this weekend - my painting, Gentle Slumber Rose Bouquet, won second place in the Shining Stars 2011 Art Show. The painting was donated to the group to benefit the arts in North Texas, and I was delighted and honored to receive the award.

Congratulations, Nancy!! I must say that almost all white flowers are just so beautiful to me. Maybe because they aren't quite so common, unless they are of the wildflower weedy variety. Except lilacs. I like my purple lilacs. I love this big white irises!
