My sleepy Sunday yesterday got a bit of a wake up call when I learned I had won first place in the 2011 Annual Judged Show of the Mid Cities Fine Arts group in Hurst, Texas. Silent Serendipity White Poppies took first in the Works on Canvas Category. I was tickled pink to hear that my friend and art mentor Fran Chausse White won an honorable mention in the same category for her beautiful poppy painting.

On a sad note, the white studio hydrangeas lost the gloss on their bloom, their beauty faded, their youthful perkiness was no more, and alas, withered and alone, they found themselves tossed into the bin heap of life, forgotten and unappreciated in Flower Mound Studio. Old age is a cruel, cruel thing.
