The Chosen is a departure from my usual paintings. I began drawing women in dresses and ballgowns in the fourth grade, when my dream of being a fashion designer first began. My first year of college that notion was dispelled when I learned I had to embrace home furnishings in the mix, and learn how to tell a Louis the XIV chair from a chaise lounge. This was a fun painting, and I drew on my watercolor background to lay in a nice soft background, reminiscent of the flowers of the Dallas Arboretum. I suppose you could say I am wishing for summer already!

Oh Nancy! This is so delightful and creates such a cool mood. Lovely work. I too used to draw dresses...I think mine were always similar to historical gowns! LOL

I love that you added a figure to your painting! The hat adds a bit of mystery to the woman and the flowers are lovely! Well done!
