Monet's Garden is a large oil painting on gallery wrap canvas that has been a showpiece in my studio while it waits for a new home. About a year ago on a sunny, windy day, I noticed a garden of beautiful fuschia irises blowing in the wind. My husband and I were sitting at a restaurant in Plano, Texas, and I pulled out my cell phone and capured some images to paint from. I wanted to capture a bit of the movement and glow of that day, and the beauty of the red purples in the petals of the irises. Do you ever see something so beautiful you just ache to paint it? It was one of those moments, but I had to finish my buttered almond croissant first and have second helpings of mocha coffee with whipped creme, of course.
