Purple Passion Poppies is drying on the easel while the smell of Christmas cookies is filling the studio today. Every year I make my favorite recipe, Russian Teacakes, for the neighbors, wrap them in clear plastic, place them in gift bags, and tie them up with colorful bows. I'm running a bit behind in the holiday routine this year, but slowly but surely achieving all those important landmarks that make it my favorite time of year.

I wanted to share a few picture with you of our favorite bed and breakfast in Fredericksburg, Texas, the Carriage House, which is pet friendly (of course!) and just a block away from historic downtown. The Nimitz Museum was bedecked with flags this past weekend, in honor of a reunion of Pearl Harbor Survivors. What a beautiful time to visit, with Christmas lights on every corner and beautiful old stone houses lit up on every street.

-->
Russian Teacakes
1 cup butter softened
½ cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 ¼ cups all purpose flour
¾ cup finely chopped pecans
¼ tsp salt
A bag of powdered sugar
1. Heat oven to 400ºF.
2. Mix butter, 1/2 cup powdered sugar and the vanilla in large bowl. Stir in flour, nuts and salt until dough holds together.
3. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
4. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until set but not brown. Remove from cookie sheet. Cool slightly on wire rack.
Roll warm cookies in powdered sugar; cool on wire rack. Roll in powdered sugar again.

Thank you Linda, watch out for those cookies, they are like potato chips - you cannot eat just one! : )
