Serenity Lane Cottage is a new oil painting based on the cottages of Coronado Island, California. I took the liberty of borrowing some of my favorite delphinium photos from the Dallas Arboretum to populate the foreground of Serenity Lane.

The delphiniums on Coronado Island are lovely, but were all a solid purple color this past spring. I had a bit easier time with the Dallas delphs, which were askew, multicolored, and interspersed with a wonderful variety of shapes and sizes.

I've attached 2 photos for you below, to show you what I'm referring to, and so you won't think I've completely lost my mind, at least not yet. Can you tell which is Dallas and which is Coronado? I bet you had no idea you were going to have to take a test today. I won't make it easy for you by putting someone in a cowboy hat in one of the photos. Take a peek and see if you can tell!

Delphiniums Number 1
Delphiniums from Dallas or from Coronado?
What do you think?

Delphiniums Number 2
Which do you think these were?
Coronado or Dallas delphiniums?

I'm going for the Coronado blues in the last photo!!! They look perfect and I thought Coronado also looked perfect when I when there...

Love your interpretation of the blues...this painting is gorgeous!!! I think I'm sounding like a broken record...I need a Thesaurus...

Both shots of those delphiniums look healthy & sturdy....this is one thing I can't grow! We're heading out that way again this week! I can't remember if anything is blooming this time of year, but I'm sure I'll enjoy CA all over again! :-) Love your new series of cottages!

Thank you! These flowers grow so effortlessly in Coronado, CA, I don't think I've ever seen a healthy one in Texas outside of the arboretum.
