Ciao Bella, Peony on Yellow, is drying on the easel while I start work on a larger flower market painting. It's so good to be home after a few days away, and back in the studio with the assistants where I belong! Any time I leave there is a bit of a transition as my foster pug, Tanner, learns that he has not been abandoned, after all, and I will always return to take care of him, at least until he goes to his forever home. I don't mind spoiling this little fellow, he surely deserves it considering he spent the first 7 years of his life in an Oklahoma puppy mill without toys, without a kind touch, and without the love and attention he deserved.

It's hard to imagine anyone could be unkind to Tanner, he is such a love, but he still has bad dreams sometimes and only falls to sleep after I read to him for a while at bedtime. Every once in a while he still runs and hides when I walk through the kitchen with a roll of paper towels in my hand, or anything else he sees as threatening. In the past, my fosters learned quickly they were safe, but for Tanner it is taking a bit longer. I don't mind a bit, though. He is worth it.

Beautiful painting Nancy. As always, I love your edges, the mix of hard and soft.

Tanner is so lucky to be with you now. Shamefull how he was treated. Our family adopted a stray that acted the same for about the first year she was with us. Then one day I think she realized she was safe and loved and she relaxed. I hope Tanner gets to that place, he deserves it.
