Summer Moon Blooms is a new commission for a wonderful family in Tennessee. I was riding an airport shuttle bus to LAX a few weeks ago when I received a call from a client who had been following my work for well over a year. He and his wife had decided on exactly the painting and size they wanted and Summer Moon Blooms was created specifically for them.

Once the garden dries it will receive a coat of varnish and fly away home. I loved creating this work of art, it was filled with all my favorites. Here is a peek at the step by step progression of this painting below, as well as a detail of the pansies, my favorite part of the painting. Enjoy!

Almost done!
to do list:
brighten sunflowers
add irises
add pansies...

Laying in the pots!
to do list - daisies!
more sunflowers
sky color

The pansies popped into this painting quickly,
you would think I had Miracle Gro on my brush!
