Tender Is the Night White Carnations is a new painting drying on the easel in Flower Mound Studio today. After a hot August summer day here in Texas, the evening is a gasp of relief. I water, tend and fertilize my flowers but they struggle to survive the sauna my back yard has become. Tomorrow a dear painty pal is coming to the studio and I'm looking forward to catching up on all the art news and spending a few hours creating art with a kindred soul. Originally the plan was for us to plein air paint at the Dallas Arboretum, but I wimped out and opted for the nice, indoor, air conditioned studio.

If you are in one of the nine states they announced were being punished with a heat wave today, I've got one suggestion - have a big ole iced cold glass of sweet (pronounced SUH-WEET) iced tea! And don't forget the sprig of fresh mint, for goodness sake!

This painting is simply divine, Nancy. I can't quite describe the emotional response from this one (a rarity for me to be at a loss for words)...I am reminded of snowballs, of impermanence, of beauty and...Just gorgeous!

Exquisite, and so is the title. You never fail to thrill me. The colours stand in such sharp contrast to the mess created by the oil spill. May flowers bloom again one day!

Hi Nea! *waving paws* so nice to hear from you.

Thank you Ed, I hear San Francisco is having a cold front - could you send some of that to Dallas?

Thank you Sherry, you write like a poet my friend.

Thank you Brianna. I am in love with your pug sculptures, esp the little flying pug! so cute.

Marie you are so kind. You've had so many great honors lately I can hardly keep up. What a blessing to have such a famous artist as a friend! xoxo
