Ragdoll Romance - Sunflowers

The ragdoll sunflowers growing in my garden were glorious last summer, but did not make an appearance this year. Fortunately I had some colorful cuttings to work from in creating Ragdoll Romance, a new painting drying on the easel in Flower Mound Studio.

The day was filled with surprises, some wonderful, and one very sad. For the good news, I was so very honored to be mentioned in the blog of the famous French artist and photographer, Roger Dautais, who creates art using the gifts of the earth. His work is an incredible inspiration and his vision is as boundless as nature. Please pay his blog a visit and see some of the beautiful creations he has made, braving weather, cold water, unfriendly four footed neighbors, and almost any obstacle to pursue his passion.

The sadness that began my morning was news that my beloved foster pug, Oscar, went to his final rest at the age of 14. My heart aches for his loss, and especially for his furever family who loved and adored him. Oscar stayed with us for four months until he was adopted. He was a ray of sunshine. What an honor and a blessing it was to have this dignified, loving little fellow in my life.

Oscar, aka Mister Sunshine
May the angels take you gently to your rest

I can see your hand jumping up and down left to right.
Sorry to read about Oscar. What a sweet dog.
Happy that this did not stop you from painting.
Hugs, IB

Thank you ladies, I appreciate your kind words about Oscar, aka Mister Sunshine. He was one of the fortunate rescue pugs who came from a good family and went to a good family, and never was neglected or forgotten, as it should be for all of our critters. Oscar was an old soul and such a love. I will always miss him.

I am so very sorry to hear about Oscar's passing, Nancy. Doubly hard as I have an Oscar of my own (a Greyhound) that is getting up in years.

Nothing ragdollish about these beauties!

Beautiful Ragdoll Sunflowers. We have never heard of them.
I think it would be fun to try to grow some. I wonder if they are just a Texas flower?
Your painting is gorgeous.

We are very sad for the loss of Oscar too, for your heart and for the forever family who adopted him and loved him.
The angels are holding him now and singing lulabyes to him
