The ragdoll sunflowers growing in my garden were glorious last summer, but did not make an appearance this year. Fortunately I had some colorful cuttings to work from in creating Ragdoll Romance, a new painting drying on the easel in Flower Mound Studio.

The day was filled with surprises, some wonderful, and one very sad. For the good news, I was so very honored to be mentioned in the blog of the famous French artist and photographer, Roger Dautais, who creates art using the gifts of the earth. His work is an incredible inspiration and his vision is as boundless as nature. Please pay his blog a visit and see some of the beautiful creations he has made, braving weather, cold water, unfriendly four footed neighbors, and almost any obstacle to pursue his passion.

The sadness that began my morning was news that my beloved foster pug, Oscar, went to his final rest at the age of 14. My heart aches for his loss, and especially for his furever family who loved and adored him. Oscar stayed with us for four months until he was adopted. He was a ray of sunshine. What an honor and a blessing it was to have this dignified, loving little fellow in my life.

Oscar, aka Mister Sunshine
May the angels take you gently to your rest
