Blossom Ballet - Sunflowers

Blossom Ballet Sunflowers is drying on the easel in Flower Mound Studio this evening, while a late summer thunderstorm is cooling off the temperatures outside. It has been a long, hot summer and I am ready for the fall, though I will miss the last of the flowers when they go. I love painting sunflowers - and am especially happy when I'm able to capture their imperfections. Petals falling and ragged and bedraggled world weary heads hanging down, but just when I think the sunflowers in my back yard are done, another new face opens the next morning. Maybe they're getting their second wind!

These are especially beautiful with the purpley flowers! Long live flowers!!(I'm hoping ours last as long into fall as possible, too!)

I am just in love with the title of this piece: Blossom Ballet. Such a perfect pairing of beauties, Nancy, just as you have in this piece. Wonderful!

Thank you Roxanne, I love combining purples and yellows, no wonder I am always running out of those colors! happy painting to you!

Thank you Sherry, it is hard to think of good titles after so many are already used, I may have to refashion this one and use it again, I hope that's okay... warm hugs to you from your pal, HOwie.
