A Bit of Heaven - Purple Iris

A Bit of Heaven - Purple Iris by Nancy Medina

A Bit of Heaven, Purple Iris, is a new painting I completed after finishing Lemon Parfait Bouquet yesterday. I waited until this afternoon to photograph A Bit of Heaven, hoping for better light. It was a little surprising to see the different colors that can come from different lighting situations, so I wanted to show them to you here.

There are photographs of the iris in shadow outdoors, the iris in artificial studio light, and the iris in sunlight outdoors. The last picture of the iris in sunlight outdoors was the truest, and I'm not just saying that because a cute little puggy is wandering around in that shot.

And the final image in the blog is from my springtime visit to Argyle Acres Iris Gardens in Argyle, Texas, just a stone's throw from Flower Mound. In the iris bloom season, Argyle Acres is about the closest place to heaven I know of!

Oh so wonderful, Nancy! Just such a calming sensation comes from this one. Maybe it is the purples? I love it!

Nancy, your paintings continue to leave me in awe. If I could I would buy them and fill my studio with your inspiration.

Lovely job, Nancy, with the variations in color and the spirit of the iris. My husband just looked over my shoulder and admired your work as well. Purple Iris was one of his mother's a favorite flowers, so he thanks you for bringing her to mind.
