A Bit of Heaven, Purple Iris, is a new painting I completed after finishing Lemon Parfait Bouquet yesterday. I waited until this afternoon to photograph A Bit of Heaven, hoping for better light. It was a little surprising to see the different colors that can come from different lighting situations, so I wanted to show them to you here.

There are photographs of the iris in shadow outdoors, the iris in artificial studio light, and the iris in sunlight outdoors. The last picture of the iris in sunlight outdoors was the truest, and I'm not just saying that because a cute little puggy is wandering around in that shot.

And the final image in the blog is from my springtime visit to Argyle Acres Iris Gardens in Argyle, Texas, just a stone's throw from Flower Mound. In the iris bloom season, Argyle Acres is about the closest place to heaven I know of!
