Purple Promise Sunflowers is a new work drying on the easel this evening. I spent the past few days reacquainting myself with my pochade box, plein air painting. It is pretty remarkable what you can see in a flower outdoors, in the sun, that you cannot detect in a photograph, even on a 52-inch color Hans G screen. I'm looking forward to the fall when painting outdoors will not be an exercise in surviving the heat. In the meantime, I've got my trusty, goofy hat to keep me safe from the sun.

Such a summery painting, Nancy! Are these the ones you had to climb up to see?

They are really glowing from the sunlight Nancy, I'm really envious of your weather. we're just off to Cornwall with pochade and pug - forecast grey cloud and light rain all weekend - thats the UK for you!

Sometimes I just wanna be you, Nancy. Cute as a button and extremely talented and a Puggle mama. Sigh...Gorgeous painting, my friend!
