Along the field path in the middle five acres of my parent's organic farm in East Texas is an area redolent with the bitter scent of wild sage and the prickley vines of dewberry bushes. The cattle that used to graze this field have been moved to another pasture this year, so the flowers have plunged up from the earth to celebrate. The orange butterfly weed is everywhere, and even though it is not the Indian paintbrush I was hoping for, I love the warm colors that lay so well on the cool greens.

Behind those trees in the distance my mother is sitting in her kitchen having a glass of iced tea right now, and watching MSNBC. If we are very quiet, we will be able to hear her yelling at the announcer.

Let's skip down that trail and pay your Mom a visit! On second thought better not be skipping at my age I could fall and hurt myself! Wonderful warm colors!

Thanks, Nancy! You are too sweet. I got a new short 'do, so I'm enjoying it in this hot Houston summer.

Becky you are hilarious. I gave up my skipping and hopping over a decade ago, but a nice waddle or mosey still works if you'd like to join me. LOL!

Manon you can skip for the rest of us cutey. In your fab shoes. : )

Thank you Linda! Happy fourth to you lady!

Yet another of my favorite Nancy landscapes! That orange against the grass is just delightful, Nancy! Much like a pot of honey, methinks. I had to laugh at the image of your mom yelling at the MSNBC announcer; something I would do!

Was that the noise I just heard, your mother?

I'm really enjoying your new field paintings. And Indian Paintbrushes is the first thing that popped into my mind!

Nancy, I always love your landscapes. They are so beautiful, so dreamy. I love these orange flowers and t'were I a butterfly, you could find me happily flitting and frolicking amongst these beauties and ultimately ending up in those beautiful distant trees!
