The Memory Collector, Pansies

The Memory Collector is a new pansy still life drying on the easel in Flower Mound Studio. I have grown very fond of this size, 12X10, it seems just perfect for these small flower still lifes. Today was an almost perfect day. Home from work, a nice torrential downpour in the middle of a hot Texas summer day, and plenty of time to snuggle the pugs in between projects, shipping paintings, and packaging up a pet portrait for a family nearby.

July always makes me stop and reflect, the center mark of each year that goes by much too quickly, and it always seems December is close on its heels. I moved home from California 10 years ago last month to be closer to my mother, who is growing older now, and I'm so glad I did. I count every moment with her as precious, and every phone call or silly email she sends me (she is quite the internet surfer and also loves video games on her TV at home.)

The holiday weekend is upon us, whereever you are I hope you have a peaceful one, with loved ones nearby. Be safe! One thing I rarely mention on my blog is my day job as the editorial director of the Annals of Emergency Medicine. Be safe! I don't want you to be visiting my boss in the ER this weekend.

This is gorgeous, Nancy! I so love that green pot! Nice to know what you do outside of painting; I hadn't realized. Sounds like a cool job too. Too, I am so thrilled that you have such a wonderful relationship with your mom!

Hi Nancy
These pansies in the green pot are magnificently beautiful!

You made the perfect decision to move and be close to your mom.
Sometimes people do not have moms, and we can tell how much you love your mama.

Thanks for sharing what you do when your not creating magical paintings
