Late Bloomers Hydrangeas is a new painting based on one of my favorite art challenge blogs by Dana Marie. Please take a peek at her beautiful hydrangea photo and if you are an artist, give it a try. You may be a late bloomer when it comes to painting, I didn't start painting until I was 30. But no matter how old you are, if you work hard you will see growth over time.

Dana originally posted this challenge in March 2009. Below is the first painting I completed in response to her blog post. It's scary, sometimes, to look back at the old works, and even scarier to show them to others! Do what scares you!

Isn't it amazing when we look back & see where we came from! Both are very pretty - the latest one though is absolutely stunning. You can see the beginning of your style in the older one, and then in the latest one, you can see your confidence in your strokes & colors. Wonderful work & thanks for sharing the old & new.

Now I would love to have hydrangeas that looked like this in my yard. I only have daisy weeds! Did you see the variegated ones Sharon in NH bought at Lowe's? Very different!

Ooh, hydrangeas!! My second favorite flower after lilacs! I must say that I like your latest approach even better than your first go with these beauties. Both are gorgeous but the details are a bit more refined in this latest piece. Perfect for seeing the true beauty of these gorgeous flowers!

You've come a long way Nancy, but I know you've worked hard to get there. Just think where you'll be in another year!

Both are very beautiful, Nancy, but that late bloomer is stunning.
