When I visited Southern California last week for my show in Coronado, the hubby and I drove out to La Jolla one afternoon and visited the Birch Aquarium. This massive fountain sits right out by the front entrance. The Aquarium is affiliated with the Scripps Instituion of Oceanography, one of the oldest and most important centers for ocean research in the world.

The aquarium was holding a special seahorse exhibit, and the variety of seahorses on display was amazing. The aquarium is an educational facility, and schoolchildren taking the tour while we were there used all sorts of interactive learning tools designed to teach them about ocean conservation.

The drive to the aquarium is through the winding, picturesque hills of La Jolla and was a real treat. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend it!

What a beautiful bouquet in a perfect vase to set it to its most beautiful advantage. Well done, Nancy. I would love to have seen the seahorses!

Irit thank you for arranging for perfect weather while we visited! : )

Sherry I appreciate that, I was amazed at how many seahorse varieties there are - by the way, the family LOVED your portrait of my grandpa. xoxo

Thank you Joan, I think we have a mutual admiration society. You are a master with color lady!
