Dallas Arboretum Award and an Artscape Invitation

Pansy Panorama by Nancy Medina
Dallas Arboretum Award Winner

Honorable Mention
Garden Gallery Juried Show
Oil on Canvas

This weekend the biggest art event in the region will take place on the grounds of the Dallas Arboretum. Look for me in Booth 11 at Artscape and stop in and say hello! I'll be the artist in the funny hat with green paint on her nose juggling bags and brushes and trying to look professional.

Yesterday I learned that my painting, Pansy Panorama, was selected for an award in the Dallas Arboretum Garden Gallery juried show. This is my first professional art award and I am so honored and still in a bit of shock. There are many amazing artists in the show at the DeGolyer House on the grounds of the Arboretum. If you make it out to the grounds be sure to stop in and see the historic DeGolyer residence. It's worth a tour all by itself, even without the show.

This is the best time of year to visit the Arboretum. The tulips will be in full bloom, along with the azaleas and dogwoods during the Dallas Blooms Festival. If you are a fan of mother nature in her most colorful attire, you won't want to miss this event.

Congratulations on the award, Nancy. It is so very well deserved! I still love that orange background in Pansy Panorama! (Oh yes...I've been meaning to ask if your mom and aunt liked the portrait of your grandpa Poppy?)
