Lavender Iris

Lavender Iris
8X8
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
nancy@nancymedina.com

This little iris bloomed in the studio while I was working on a four-foot container garden painting for Art and Frames by Wood Gallery in Coronado, California. These small works make great studies when I am working through a problem or challenge on a larger painting. I finished the large work after three days of painting until midnight, and then a few more hours to make some small adjustments.

The most challenging thing about painting at this pace is taking those important breaks to stop and play with the studio assistants. Ball throwing in the sunshine and hunting for lost chew toys is just part of the job description for the artist in residence at Flower Mound Studio. It's a tough job, but somepuggy's mom has to do it!

A beautiful painting, can't wait to see the 4' painting - WOW!

I wish you could see what's blooming over here, 1 gerber daisy that is begging me to put it out of its misery and a poor fig tree that is dropping its gorgeous huge leaves.

Hi Nancy, I can see that you love flowers in such a way that you portray their spirit and fragility in your brushwork!

Oh Nancy! This truly has caught my breath. Beautiful! And I've mentioned before how much I love the close ups of a single flower. Just stunning work!

Angela I'm sure your one gerbera is gorgeous. ; ) are you on break now lady? Or does it start Friday? miss U!!!

Marie, thank you so much I admit I am quite infatuated with flowers. The more the cold takes them away outdoors, the more I want them in my studio. :)

Autumn thank you, I do need to do more closeups! I hope you have a great holiday planned!

So pretty Nancy. I always like lavender and lime green together. They seem to compliment each other perfectly in your painting.
