Carlos and Java Way Back When

Nine years ago I stopped my wandering, packed up my worldly goods, and brought my husband-to-be home to Texas. I strategically planned our drive across the Lone Star State so my Los Angeles-born beau would not see the trailer parks, tattoo parlors, and drive-through beer barns of my hometown until it was too late to turn back. In time, Carlos got over the initial shock of hearing folks say "ya'll" in casual conversation and he learned to accept the fact that gravy is the fifth food group here.

We settled in Flower Mound, adopted a pug puppy, and braced ourselves for 100-degree summers. On November 5, 2000, on a rainy day, my family and our closest friends gathered while Carlos and I exchanged vows. Now we have three pugs, a bit more gray hair, and so much to be thankful for. It's hard to believe how fast time has passed. Happy anniversary to my best friend.

Wonderful memories and I thank you for sharing them, Nancy. I love the pic of Carlos and the pug baby! Was the puppy actually sleeping like that?? They are so cute and fun and loving when they are babies. Honestly, I have to say that I adore the fabric on the couch. Caught my eyes immediately!

I love how you avoided the 'local color' to get him home :D
