Hydrangea blooms are a treasure only found at the local grocery store in Flower Mound this month. The hydrangea tree and bushes in my garden finished flowering ages ago. These purple mopheads were completely unaware their time to shine had passed when I carried them into the kitchen yesterday wrapped in brown paper. They are such resilient plants, with plenty of water and a little sun from the window, they'll lend some color to the studio for a few more weeks, or at least long enough for a few more paintings.

Just beautiful, Nancy! I really like the warm brown paper against the cool grays, can't wait to see more hydrangea paintings.

I really like this painting. I love hydrangea. I took some photos in the Bellagio in Las Vegas this summer that I want to paint eventually. I should plant some in my yard so I'll have plenty of source material, right!?

Next to lilacs, hydrangeas are my favorites. They turn to such beautiful colors even when drying, don't they. Lovely Nancy!

They just don't last long enough do they Nancy. Such an impressive flower too, especially in your painting.

Love the feel of this painting Nancy! I'm not sure but I think it feels romantic to me.

Thank you ladies, hydrangeas are one of those few hardy plants that can survive Texas weather if they get enough water and shade, that is. Becky, I bet you could grow them easily in Houston!

Beautiful Nancy! I agree with Angela about the brown paper. And, though this may seem a little odd, I really like the leaves to the center of right, perfectly applied.

Beautiful little mop heads. They seem to tell so many stories!
We have many different kinds, and they have put on a brilliant display.
Your painting is so GORGEOUS. We could look at it all day.

Hi Nancy! Another wonderful painting from Flower Mound. I have always loved hydrangeas - the color of them seems unreal to me. I have never had them in my garden, though. I wonder if they would grow in the high desert?
