Famous Friends and New Florals

Angela Elledge (left) and Carolyn Weinman of IAA
Irving Art Association Pet Art Show

My favorite pet portait artist Angela Elledge won first place for the Works on Canvas category in the Unconditional Love 1st Annual Pet Art Show in Irving today. I was tickled pink to be rubbing elbows with this celebrity whose award-winning painting "Mocha Rocks" sat in my living room for few days before the show where I could admire it before delivering it to the show for Angela.

My other painty pal Judy Mackey was also a big winner this evening, for her portrait "Bull". Judy won the Asel Art Supply Award of Excellence for her work and I got to accept the ribbon on her behalf! *flashbulbs popping, paparazzi everywhere* Judy's gigantic ribbon and gift certificate are on my mantel. I promised Judy I wouldn't spend all her loot before she is able to pick it up, but I might have to pin her sparkley ribbon on my T-shirt and prance around the studio with it on for a bit, just for the fun of it.

I am so proud of my painty lady friends, Angela and Judy. You can see their amazing and awarding winning works on their blogs. Please join me in congratulating these talented ladies!

Congratulations Angela and Judy!! Well deserved prizes indeed! Nancy, I love this piece of your's so very much. It looks like your little puggly friends were having a field day amongst your potted plants! That is how I choose to imagine it and it just simply makes me smile!

Hi ladies, thank you so much. I forgot to mention how big the turnout was for the pet art show reception despite terrible rainy weather here in Dallas. Angela won the most prestigious category for works on canvas and I wish you could have seen her painting in person. It was amazing.
Garden Blooms was a conglomeration of some plants on my deck, and others from photos I've taken over the past year. And of course, the puggies helped, so they all contribute commentary throughout the project, such as "mom, can you put down the brush so we can have a snack now...?"
