Sunny Delight is a painting of an oriole contemplating a juicy treat in a New England back yard. This is another of my recent line of paintings based on the amazing photography of Sharon at A New England Life.
Upon close inspection of this amazingly colored fellow, you can find a tiny heart-shaped mark in a strategic location on his feathery breast. I promise this is not a fanciful add-on by the artist, but instead is an inspired addition by the greatest artist of all, Mother Nature.
You can see more of my recent line of bird portraits, along with my florals and landscapes on my web site. I am now on facebook and would love for you to join me there. And, of course, you are cordially invited to send me a tweet.

I think it's wonderful you're branching out and painting some of our feathered friends. Glad I could give you some inspiration too : )
I never noticed the heart in the photo. Now I need to go back and look!

Wonderful painting, Nancy - nicely balanced composition.
You are on such a cool bird trend, love it! Keep it up!
A beautiful bird and painting!
Tweet, tweet!
Just had to comment on this one. We have had a battle with the squirrels getting into the bird feeders. Greasing the poles with vaseline and watching the little buggers slip and slide has been great entertainment for me and the cats. The feeder is just outside my studio window...no wonder I haven't done much painting!
This is delightful Nancy....birds are one of my favorite subjects as well.
