Iris Garden

Iris Garden
11X14
Oil on Canvas
SOLD

Iris Garden was painted plein air in the garden of my friend Judy Mackey, a talented artist and one of my best painty pals. The ice plant in the foreground and the cool white tones of the iris worked well with the orange clay soil and natural stone wall by Judy's fountain. Only a few flowers were blooming when Judy and I painted that day, but fortunately artists are given this thing called free license and suddenly *poof* more flowers appeared as if by magic in my painting!

Judy and I were extremely fortunate to have the careful supervision that day of her German Shorthair studio assistants Stella and Tina, although the girls were more interested in the popcorn we were eating than the composition or values in our artistic creations.

Lovely, lovely! I think plein air would be fun, but it is so hard to keep the paper damp for watercolor!

Very nice Nancy. I know none of it could have been possible though without Stella and Tina. Surely there is a hair of two in the painting itself to add texture.

Hi Nancy!

Look at all of these divine new paintings! You are working so hard. How nice to catch up with you! Fun to see little AnnieB's face, too.

By the way, the darks in the painting "Along the Way" are so rich.

Your irises are simply gorgeous! I find myself wanting to meet Stella and Tina though! LOL What is that icy flower in the foreground? It caught my eye immediately! Great colors, Nancy!

This is a lovely painting, Nancy. I especially like the composition with that long curve and the balance of white and clay colors.

Another beautiful painting Nancy. And AnnieB is gorgeous. It will be great to know what you think of PC vs Mac!

Lovely! I like that you had your creative license with you that day and took the liberty to add more flowers. I'm guessing that your painting looks better than real life.

And I really LOVE your painting "Along The Way." It's absolutely stunning!

Thank you ladies, for your kind comments! That blue plant in the foreground is an ice plant, I'm not sure what the scientific name is for it, it is very popular as a plant that needs very little water. And the IMAC, paws down, 100% better than a PC, especially for us artists, gals. I've still go to navigate all the bells and whistles, but so far it is like climbing down from the horse and buggy and into the driver's seat of the Starship Enterprise. Beam me up Captain!
