Blossoms in Blue - Hydrangeas

Blossoms in Blue - Hydrangeas
8X10
Oil on Linen Board

These hydrangeas are based on a photo I took in Seattle a few years ago, while visiting the Pike Street Market. Blue hydrangeas are fun to paint, they have so many other colors in addition to blues. Magenta is the deep red purple I used in this painting to give my blue hydrangeas a "kick".

What a beautiful painting, Nancy! Love the colors. I have a blue hydrangea bush in the garden, maybe I'll paint it this summer.

Hugs,
Donna

Thanks Ladies! Melissa, I hope your new pillows are selling well - they are beautiful!
Manon, your work just gets better and better. I love how introspective and elegant it is!
Donna, I would LOVE to see you do a painting of your hydrangeas. I did a 3 foot by 4 foot white hydrangea painting for a friend in St. Louis recently. That was a bear to ship but I enjoyed painting them. It was a good challenge!
happy painting and creating ladies!

Thank you Kelley, I love your work. Your poodle is wonderful! I hope you got into the Daily Painters, you're much better than several of them I've seen!

Nancy - what a wonderful find to happen upon your blog! I stopped by from Donna's Art and have just been taken with your paintings! I especially love this one ... blue hydrangeas. They were our wedding flower, so they hold such beautiful memories within each watercolored hue. Oh, and love the hat!! Truly! Seeing the sunshine on its brim made me wish for warmer days ... we're covered in snow!

Blessings,
Jenny

Hi Missy Muse!! I have to say I enjoy starting every morning by reading what you have written. You are the busiest blogger I know!

Mary, I think hydrangeas are becoming my favorite too!

Jenny, I hope you are not caught in that awful storm today. If you like this hat, I can get you one at target in Dallas next summer for $2.50. I spend a lot on my fancy painting hats. ; )

Bindu, I love your new photo of the piece of pottery - did you create that? It is amazing!

Thanks for blogging about my pet portraits Melissa, queen of pet portraits! you and Emmypants rock! Did you see I won Karine's lizard? I'm so excited about that.

Christine I'm so glad you came by - your flowers are beautiful and your amaryllis journey is remarkable. The detail and color is brilliant!

happy Thursday eve ladies, tomorrow is FRIDAY and then I get a 3 day weekend to paint my fanny off. Well, you know what I mean....
